Florida PTA Remembers Past President Joanne DiGiandomenico (“DeJohn”)

Florida PTA President from 1986-1988
(5/1/1943 – 11/30/2014)

remembers

Joanne DiGiandomenico (“DeJohn”) served as president of Florida PTA from 1986 to 1988.

During her administration the annual Leadership Conference moved to Innisbrook Resort in August 1987 and the annual event is still held at that location. (SEE THE BULLETIN BELOW for the official article from 1986.)

During the two years “DeJohn” was our president, our honorary membership chairs were:

Burt Reynolds (1988) and Blue Angels (1987); membership and leadership were two important issues for Florida PTA at that time. (SEE THE BULLETINS BELOW for the official articles from 1986 & 1988.)

Quote from Kay Luzier, Florida PTA President 1994-1996:

“She taught me so much about PTA and about life.  She was unstoppable when she was on a mission for children.  I was blessed to have the opportunity to work with and learn from her during my PTA Board years.”

From Latha Krishnaiyer, Florida PTA President 1988-2000:

“My sincere condolences to your entire family. DeJohn served as a mentor to many of us in PTA. I will always remember her patience and kindness to me, warmly listening and answering any questions I may have. She never took her eye of the ball, the welfare of the organization came first. It was a privilege to have known and worked with her. She will be missed. “

From Mindy Haas, Current Florida PTA President 2014-2016:

“It is with our deep sadness to hear of the loss of DeJohn. She will continue to be honored as one of our own.”
