General Information for All Committee Chairs

Committees are the practical and democratic way of involving the membership in attaining PTA goals. The work and goals of each local unit determine the number and nature of the committees necessary for that unit. All associations need the basic committees, such as parent involvement, programs, budget, membership, legislation, publications/communications and hospitality. Other committees are determined by the goals and needs of the unit, or as the bylaws prescribe. Many, but not all, of the committees at the local unit level have parallels at the state and national level.

The chair of the standing committees shall be selected by the officers of the association.

Suggested Committee Duties are set out in the Florida PTA Kit of Materials,  The Kit of Materials is updated each year and sent electronically to each local unit’s President, Secretary and Treasurer.  If your officers did not yet receive the current Florida PTA Kit of Materials, we have not received your current officers.
