Call for Nominations 2026-2028
The Florida PTA Nominating Committee is now accepting nominations from those interested in serving as a 2026-2028 Florida PTA elected officer. Eligibility and responsibility requirements of officers can be found here. All officers are required to sign a Code of Ethics annually, which will be included in the application process.
Nominations for Florida PTA elected officers will remain open and accepted until Monday, December 22, 2025, 5:00 PM ET. All of the items from the Candidate’s Checklist of Required Materials must be received on or before Monday, December 22, 2025, by 5:00 PM ET.

Note: Nominations are not in order for the position of President as the current President-Elect will automatically assume the role and responsibilities of President.
Per Florida PTA State Bylaws 2023, Page 8-9 of 19 Article VIII: Officers, Section 4. The following provisions shall govern the qualifications and eligibility of individuals to be officers of the Florida PTA:

a. Each officer shall be a member of a local PTA chartered by the Florida PTA.
b. No person shall hold more than one state office at any time and no officer may be eligible for two consecutive terms in the same office.
c. A person who has served in an office for more than one half of a full term shall be deemed to have served a full term in such office.
d. A member eligible pursuant to paragraph e. of Article VIII, Section 4 may be elected to no more than three consecutive terms served in three different offices.
e. No person is eligible for office who at the time of election, has not reached the age of majority (18), and has not served at least one full term, as a member of the Florida PTA Board of Directors, a member of a Florida PTA Standing Committee, or a member of the National PTA Board of Directors, a member of a National PTA committee, elected or otherwise.
f. All candidates for office must be a resident of the State of Florida at the time of nomination as determined by the required Affirmation of Residency form, except for those serving in the military and their immediate family members.
To be considered as a candidate for an elected officer position, you must complete the following items on the Candidate’s Checklist of Required Materials. All materials must be received on or before Monday, December 22, 2025 by 5:00 PM ET
Note: Anyone not slated by the Nominating Committee who wishes to run from the floor MUST also have completed all of the items from the Candidate’s Checklist of Required Materials on or before Monday, December 22, 2025, by 5:00 PM ET.
Candidate’s checklist of required materials:
- Completed Letter of Intent Form with Signature of Agreement
- Affirmation of Residency, signed and uploaded
- Completed Resume/Bio Form
- Completed Professional/Personal Reference Form
- Copy of current PTA membership card
- Note: Local unit must be in compliance with Florida PTA
- Code of Ethics, signed and uploaded
- Confidentiality Agreement, signed and uploaded
Running from the floor for an elected position?
Note: Anyone not slated by the Nominating Committee who wishes to run from the floor MUST also have completed all of the items from the Candidate’s Checklist of Required Materials on or before Monday, December 22, 2025, by 5:00 PM ET to be eligible to run from the floor.
- Deadline to submit intent to run from the floor is 14 days from the date of the release of the slate of officers.
- Written notification will be sent to the Nominating Committee, nominating@floridapta.org, including a letter of intent with signatures of at least five Florida PTA unit members (with local PTA unit listed), must be submitted.
- All items on the Candidate’s Checklist of Required Materials above must be submitted by all members running from the floor on or before Monday, December 22, 2025, at 5:00 PM ET.
- NO campaign material of any type can be distributed at any time before the close of the business meeting at which the nomination has been made from the floor.
Nomination and Election of Officers Timeline:
- 9/22/2025 – 12/22/2025: Nominations accepted
- 2/1/2026 – 4/1/2026: Nominating Committee meets to conduct candidate interviews to review and nominate the slate of officers for the July 2026 Florida PTA elections. Nominating Committee confirms candidate references. As eligibility is confirmed, the Nominating Committee will request additional materials, including a campaign narrative and a headshot.
- 5/9/2026 (tentative): Slate of officers from the Nominating Committee announced on or before this date
- Fourteen days from the release of the slate of officers above: Deadline for any candidate wishing to run from the floor
- 7/9/2026 – 7/12/2026: Election of officers held at the annual Leadership Convention
- 7/12/2026: Newly elected officers take office (at the close of Leadership Convention)
- 8/2026: Selection of Committee Chairs and Region Representatives will be completed by the Special Electing Group (comprised of newly elected officers)
