What Is Florida PTA?
For more than 80
years, Florida PTA has worked statewide on behalf of children and youth.
With more than 368,000 members, we are a potent force in the
fight for the health, education, welfare and safety of our children and youth.
Be Sure Your
Group Is a PTA
It is important
to note, however, that all parent/teacher groups are not PTAs. PTA is a registered trademark and may not legally be used by any other organization.
If your group is a PTA, you will have paid dues to state and national associations and you will have by laws that have been approved by the state PTA.
These dues and this structure ensures that PTA gives you a voice at the state and national levels.
The Florida PTA represents you, the local
Florida PTA member. Most of the decisions that affect the education and welfare of children are not made at the local school. They are made by members of the school board, the state legislature, or the Congress. In order to have a voice in the decision making process
— to be heard by the people who ultimately determine policy or pass legislation affecting children and youth
— parents should belong to a local PTA, which is a unit of the state PTA and the National PTA.
No other parent-teacher group can give its members this representation.
Your Florida PTA is the strongest voice in your state legislature representing the children of your state.
